The invention
- The problem to be solved:
The main aim was to design a cable tester for testing the
continuity of and short circuits in multiple-core cables in variable workplaces where the
cables were already built-in.

- Definition:
The object of the invention is a computer
controlled cable tester with a special design, universal fixture. In the cable tester a
software realises the continuity and short circuit tests on the multiple-core cables
according to a previously programmed way and, the test results are displayed and can be
printed out.

Presentation:
The "TEMAASSY" cable tester consists
of a computer with its peripheral devices, a special design, universal test fixture with
cable connector adapters that enables the connection of the cables and a cable holder
frame with a cable sorter. The whole test set-up moves on wheels to be easily moved at the
test site. The tests are made according to a previously specified pin connection list and,
in addition, the software itself can learn the test tasks using a reference cable. The
main software consists of two parts, the programmer's software and the specific cable test
program collection. Both parts can only be accessed using a different password. Each
specific cable test program keeps a record in a log file that contains the test results
(passed, date, work-sheet number, operator's identification data, etc.). A small size
label that shows these test results can also be printed out and stuck on the tested cable.
The cable tester comprises various inventions:
Assembler programmed, menu controlled test software.
Stable and flexible cable sorter.
The universal cable fixture enables the test of various hundred types of cables.
The cable holder and sorter are ergonomically designed.
Previously elaborated aids facilitate test program development.

- Application:
The cable tester can economically be used in small-scale
or medium-scale cable production and in service stations to test multiple-core cables or
cable bundles.

The cable tester enables fast and error-free cable tests
according also to the ISO/TC requirements.
The cable tester is mobile design and facilitates the cable tests on the spot (e.g.:
built-in aircraft cables on the airport, built-in cables in cars and on the board of
ships, etc.), too.
The manufacturer offers a background support to elaborate the specific cable test
programs, the necessary technological and operating instructions.
Using a reference cable, the cable tester learns itself the task to be done.
