The
invention
- The
problem to be solved:
Increase of the traffic safety of the
road-railway level crossings, which are
operated only by flashing lights.

- Definition:
Railway barrier having light
arm, constructed subsequently upon a
signalling device of flashing lights,
having a driving motor which receives its
energy directly from this signalling
device. It does not necessitate another
separate line because its lamps of red
and white light can govern the barrier by
themselves.

- Presentation:
Our developing work resulted in
this light, compact-shaped, armed barrier
and in terms of its safety this is equal
to the armed barriers applied up till
now.

- Advantages:
The installation expenses of this barrier
fall far behind those of a traditional
one. Because of its little structural
weight it does not necessitate a
foundation. Therefore its installation
costs only one tenth of that of the
barriers used up till now. It lasts only
2 hours.
- With regard to its electricity it is
compatible with the armed barriers
applied up till now.- Since its driving
mechanism is an oil-filled one, the
possibility of its failure is minor. As
compared to barriers up till now its
reparation is quicker and simpler.
- Its
price including its installation expenses
is about one third of that of the
barriers applied so far and approximately
one sixth of the price of the latest
hydraulic barriers.
- In case
of a bump against a vehicle its gate arm
does not break off, but after the
collision it bends back in its original
place.
- From the
point of view of its quality it can be
specified as an equipment which is
weatherproof and particularly waterproof
because of its tightness. Its glaciation
in consequence of rainwater is
impossible.
- It
demands only a little care and
maintenance, which does not call for
particular qualification. The half-yearly
greasing, prescribed for a driving
mechanism up till now, is entirely
unnecessary , because this appliance has
got an oil-filled driving mechanism.
