                    - Presentation:

                        TAMBA is the three-dimensional
                        version of the traditional game
“merils”. The starting point is a
flat game board. The pegs can be placed
on the top of each other, so the game can
                        proceed vertically in space without
                        limitations. TAMBA is well-suited for
several generations from 6-8 years old
children on. It can also be used for
competitions, as a constructive pass time
                        activity, and for improving logical
                        skills and depth perception.

                        drawing no. 1.
The game is played on a 4X4
field with 32 dark and 32 light pegs. The
                        players insert their pegs one-by-one
alternately. The goal is to get four pegs
of the same colour in one continuous
line. Since the pegs can be placed on
each other, the line can be vertical or
                        diagonal, too (drawing no. 1.).
The game ends if one of the players
places four of his or her pegs in one
continuous line. You can see a finished
game on drawing number 2. The numbers
                        indicate the order of steps.
With all the 64 pegs on the board and
when neither of the players won (four
pegs cannot be placed in one line any
more), the game continues by jumping. The
rules of jumping are as follows: the
player whose turn it is must remove one
of his or her pegs and place it somewhere
else. With a clever tactic a player can
achieve a situation when his or her
opponent cannot remove a peg without
                        losing.

                    - Advantages:

The game develops strategic and tactical
thinking in an exciting way. It can be
used to present and apply mathematical
concepts. The rules of the game are easy
to follow, playing with the game is
enjoyable right from the start. The
knowledge of the game can be improved
from a low level to a very high one, it
is well suited for competitions and
                        solving mathematical problems. The
players can keep records of the course of
the game, thus it can be re-played and
                        studied any time.
