1. The invention:
A mechanical torque
converter for chain-driven bicycles
- The problem
solved: For the cycling people
this special torque converter assures better efficiency of energy
consumption, better acceleration from start position too.
-
Definition:
This is a special
sprocket wheel with commutable perimeter, equipped to an axle of winch. The
automatic shift change is synchronized and fast (1-2 sec) while
transmission is full and continuous.
-
Presentation: This converter consist
of a special sprocket wheel (see figures 2 and 3) mounted to a driving
shaft of suitable design, just as shown in figures 1 an complete with a
known chain adjuster at a suitable location.
If when riding, starting, moving on a slope or accelerating, drive torque
exceeds a specified value, the teeth that have a separate forced trajectory
(see figure 4) shall be placed to a smaller radius reducing drive torque.
All this creates possibility for intense acceleration. Having attained
travel speed and after freewheeling for a second, the sprocket wheel shall
take up the largest circumference. The process we have described covers a
cycle of turn, which shall be repeated whenever drive is engaged after a
free-wheeling. If the goal is only to keep speed, the sprocket wheel shall
be kept in home position (largest circumference)
-
Application:
Manpower driven means of transport.
-
Advantages:
Pure mechanical
set-up, follow-up adjustment does not required.
-
Stage of development:
The ‘O’ series
manufacturing and the technological planning of the manufacturing of
100-200 pieces is completed.
-
Available documentation:
Full design
documentation for the manufacturing is available. Show-piece
