Tick-removing spoon
The invention
  • The problem to be solved: to irritate the body of the tick already struck into the skin and to remove it without killing.
  • Definition:
The tick-removing spoon has a V-shaped cut on the circular frame that ends in a rounded cove. The handle of the instrument is perpendicular to the centre of the frame. The tick-removing spoon is a disposable plastic tool.
  • Presentation:
All the known methods for the removal of the tick out of the skin aim at the killing or traumatic removal of the parasite. What is more, the tick tweezers while seizing forcefully the tick have a strong pressing effect on the central nervous system in the "neck" of the tick and on its salivary glands containing the pathogens. Consequently, during the removal out of the skin the tick spits saliva-containing micro-organisms into the sting-channel. It means that an iatrogenic infection takes place during the removal.
The new tick-removing spoon, subject of the invention, eliminates the above
described failure as it does not " touch" the tick set in the sting-channel in the skin during removal. The disposable plastic tick-removing spoon has a circular frame with a diameter of 2 cm the circular part of 0,5 cm radius in the centre of the spoon has a flat surface lying on the skin. There is a cove with a diameter of 1 mm in the centre of the frame of the spoon having a V-shaped cut into the direction of the frame. The handle of the spoon bends from the edge of the frame above the centre of the spoon and ends in a 3 cm straight handle, perpendicular to the centre of the frame. The V-shaped cut of the tick-removing spoon is to be slid along the stinging-sucking mouth organ of the tick until the cove of the frame surrounds the mouth organ of the tick. Then the tool should be turned around several times while pressing it on the skin. At this biophysical effect the tick looses its fixed position in the skin and catapults'' into the recipient part of the spoon. The disposable plastic tick-removing spoon must be destroyed together with the tick (burned).

  • Application: with the help of the tick removing spoon ticks can be removed without any hurt from human and animal skin. During removal the tick does not suffer of trauma, so this method of removal is free from infections. The tick-removing spoon can be used by anyone.
  • Advantages: No infection. It is a cheep and usefull solution.
